Sperm Syringe: 3D Sorting Platform for Assisted Reproduction

چکیده
Selection of high-quality sperm is crucial to assisted reproduction. However, conventional clinical methods for selection are manual and prone operator errors. This article presents ‘sperm syringe', a scalable technology that mimics the highly parallelized 3D process in vivo via network 560 microchannels select sperm. Sperm syringe retrieves more than 41% healthy from initial sample under 15 min, providing sufficient volume (≈500 µL) number (1,600,000) fertility treatments. Experiments with bull human indicate 65% improvement selected morphology DNA integrity, considerably outperforming current best practices. approach enables subpopulation an oligozoospermia integrity below reference value fertility. The fabrication method device also simple scalable, representing commercially viable translation adoption. provides promising opportunity clinics use less invasive reproductive technologies (ARTs) over intracytoplasmic injection, thus reducing associated workload optimizing long-term health outcomes ART-conceived children.

Sperm retrieval techniques for assisted reproduction.
Different surgical methods such as PESA, MESA, TESA, TESE and micro-TESE have been developed to retrieve spermatozoa from either the epididymis or the testis according to the type of azoospermia, i.e., obstructive or non-obstructive. Laboratory techniques are used to remove contaminants, cellular debris, and red blood cells following collection of the epididymal fluid or testicular tissue. Surg...

Assisted reproductive techniques (ART) have now been extensively incorporated in the management of infertile couples. But even after rapid methodological and technological advances the success rates of these procedures have been below expectations. This has led to development of many sperm preparation protocols to obtain an ideal semen sample for artificial reproduction. Sperm apoptosis has bee...
متن کاملASSISTED REPRODUCTION Efficiency of hyaluronic acid (HA) sperm selection
Purpose Hyaluronic Acid (HA) has a role as “physiologic selector” for spermatozoa prior to intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). The objective of this study is to analyze the results achievable by the introduction of a routine HA-ICSI programme. Methods We retrospectively observed 293 couples treated with HA-ICSI versus 86 couples treated with conventional PVP-ICSI (historical control group)...
متن کاملImpact of Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection in Human Assisted Reproduction
The development of assisted reproductive technologies (ART) arises from the need to improve reproductive conditions, ensuring births in humans. Progress in this area of research has enabled the possibility of sperm selection with adequate morphological characteristics to ensure fertilization, embryo development, pregnancy and birth. However, further studies are required to increase reproductive...
متن کاملClinical significance of sperm DNA damage in assisted reproduction outcome.
BACKGROUND Sperm DNA damage shows great promise as a biomarker of infertility. The study aim is to determine the usefulness of DNA fragmentation (DF), including modified bases (MB), to predict assisted reproduction treatment (ART) outcomes. METHODS DF in 360 couples (230 IVF and 130 ICSI) was measured by the alkaline Comet assay in semen and in sperm following density gradient centrifugation ...
